Arc's are earned at Camp Balboa for participating in weekend camp activities, Wood Tool Safety & Use, Knots & Rope Making, Compass, No To Drugs, Cooking, Campfire, Skits, Songs, and 40 more.
Units camping at Balboa for 3 weekends and participate in the activities available can earn Arc's to circle the Balboa patch twice and make a colorful patch that is 6 1/2" in diameter.
When you come to Camp Balboa the Arc program will make it easy to get your Scouts to work on some of their advancement and activity requirements because of that little patch they can earn for doing the requirements. Several of the Arc's parallel those activities. i.e.; Knife Safety, Camping, Scouts Own, Knots, and Fire Safety.
The Arc's are done by each unit by the unit leaders. The weekend staff is always available to assist the unit with any of the weekend program as necessary. Each weekend usually has available Wood Tool Safety, Rope & Knots, Compass, and any others that you are not comfortable with.
The entire weekend program including the Arc's is set up at the leader meeting on Friday night in Baden-Powell Lodge. The program is scheduled to best benefit all units at camp. Over 100,000 Arc's sold have proven the program to be a success.
Two or three active outings at Camp Balboa will usually create a vest patch 4.5".
