All classes run from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday and 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday. Be on time! Scouts can choose one (1) class each day. Cost is $45.00 per Scout, per class.

Class size is limited per badge and vessel. Space will be filled according to receipt of registration. Registration and payment must be received at Council Headquarters no later than 14 days before your clinic. Cancellations and request for refund must be done in writing 14 days before the event. There will be NO REFUND for no showsshows or for failing the BSA Swim test. Due to class size limitations, no walk-ins will be accepted. Questions? Call 619.298.6121 x246.


  • Scouts are required to pass the standard BSA swim test the morning of the class in order to participate.
  • It is recommended Scouts be at least 1st Class.
  • Annual Health and Medical Record (parts A & B) must be presented to your instructor.
  • Wear your swimsuit. Rash guard allowed. Bring sun screen, sack lunch, water bottle, and towel. Aqua socks or tennis shoes must be worn at all times.
  • Make sure to bring a Merit Badge blue card signed by your leader and your Merit Badge book. Print outline from meritbadge.org and fill out and bring to clinic.

Jump feet first into water over the head in depth, level off, and begin swimming. Swim 75 yards in a strong manner using one or more of the following strokes: sidestroke, breaststroke, trudgen, or crawl; then swim 25 yards using an easy resting backstroke. The 100 yards must be swum continuously and include at least one sharp turn. After completing the swim, rest by floating.
